As an Educator, Dale Anthony Girard has over 35 years of professional teaching experience, with courses and master classes on stage combat, acting, directing and stage/dramatic movement for such MFA programs as the Yale School of Drama, Asolo Conservatory / FSU, The National Theatre Conservatory / DCPA, BFA and BA programs including the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, the Hartt School / University of Hartford, University of Colorado and University of Denver. After 20+ years as Director of Stage Combat Studies at UNCSA, Dale has stepped back from fulltime academia but continues teaching as a Master Teacher, Guest Artist and Speaker at institutions around the country and as a senior instructor in Taekwondo for Tiger Kim’s World Class Taekwondo.
As a Master Instructor of stage combat, Dale is a strongly sought-after Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD). To date, he has trained and tested over 1,000 students in the SAFD disciplines of Unarmed, Knife, Rapier & Dagger, Broadsword/Katana, Sword & Shield, Quarterstaff, Single Sword and/or Smallsword. The high quality of Dale’s work has seen over 94% of his students pass their SAFD Skills Proficiency Tests (SPT).
